History

In 1996, Dr. Jeff Jones founded The Dads’ Club with the vision of a school-based group of concerned fathers joining together to increase fathers’ involvement in their child’s education and life in general. In the last four years The Dads’ Club has grown in many unexpected ways:

• Expanded from one to four local elementary schools
• Hosted the annual Dad’s Day with attendance of over 220 dads
• New Dads Clubs forming in middle and high schools
• Weekly requests for speaking engagements and development materials.
• Father involvement in the classroom, on the playground, in the computer lab, on field trips, Rolling Readers, etc.
• Dads Club organized and hosted over 60 families per Math, Science and Beyond Family workshop (5 in all of 2001)
• Created and maintained classroom webpages
• Supported the PTA special events (Adopt-A-Family, Field Day, Spring Fling)
