The Future
As of this year we have started the process of creating a non-profit
organization (501(c)3) in order for The Dads’ Club will qualify for foundation
grants. To effectively develop Dads’ Clubs in other communities and to be a
support/resource for their continued success, we need funding for the following:
- Fund a full-time "Executive Director" position to oversee the
growth and expansion of The Dads’ Club. Duties would include managing the
fiducial and administrative responsibilities of a non-profit, directing
research efforts, and serving as a spokesperson for The Dads’ Club.
- Establish a full-time Dads’ Club "Associate Director" position
whose primary purpose is support under-served, lower SES community schools.
Assist parent volunteer coordinators and school administrators in their
development of a Dads’ Club program.
- Fund a part-time "Administrative Assistant" to handle phone
calls, correspondence, scheduling speaking engagements, maintenance of the
Web site, etc..
- Develop Dads’ Club marketing materials (print and video) and
"starter kits" for interested schools. Set-up a Dads’ Club Web
site and link schools’ Dads’ Club web pages.
Interest in paternal involvement in the schools is at an all time high right
now. We understand better than ever the difference a father’s involvement may
make in a child’s academic success and social adjustment.
This is
a "win-win proposition" for fathers, kids, schools, and communities.
To successfully transfer The Dads’ Club program into under-served, lower
socio-economic communities, Dr. Jones will have to address why father’s aren’t
more involved in their children’s education.
We need the help of foundations
and grants to make this dream come true beyond the borders of Carmel Valley, Del
Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. We wish to make The Dads’ Club a strong,
self-sustaining organization with a undeniable presence through out San Diego
County schools.
